She looked up at him and nodded slightly, "Uhm..we-well..I do but...", she trailed off, imagining her Captain still waiting in her room for her. She placed a hand on the back of her head, "Captain Hanabi is most likely still waiting for me to go back...and I really don't want to baby sit her right now...". By baby sit, she meant watch over her Captain as she drank her heart out and eventually was too drunk to walk home so she would have to practically carry the women who was much bigger than herself. "I-I know it sounds wrong...be-because as third seat I should...take care of my captain. B-But tonight isn't a good night to watch her....", she trailed off, looking at the ground now. She hoped he didn't think less of ehr for saying that. She had looked after her Captain ever since she had become Third Seat and really, wanted a break. She wanted to relax.

Shin'ichi nodded, understanding. He heard of Captain Hanabi's drinking problems and he didn't envy Kya a bit. "I see, well, I'm heading home. If you want to crash there, you're more than welcome." He offered. He could care less, he lived alone as it was. Company wouldn't hurt, and seeing what the girl went through tonight, he'd try to do his best in helping her relax.

Her face went almost as red as her hair as she heard him offer that she could stay at his place for the night. "O-Oh no, no! I-I couldn't let you do that Captain Hasegawa! I-I mean...I'm not even in your division...and you...you barely know me and...", she trailed off, trying to hide her red face behind her hair, which only made it blend in.

Shin'ichi laughed at this. It had been the first chuckle he had gotten in a while. "Well, what better way to get to know eachother than to talk about it? It's no trouble at all, and I can use the company, seeing as I live alone." He explained. "I promise I don't bite." He offered again.

This seemed to go against everything Kya had thought of a Captain and subordinate relationship -- whether it be in the same squad or not. But she finally released a sigh. "O-Ok...i-if you say it's ok...", she replied, still a bit embarrased about the fact that she was going to be staying at a Captain's place, other than her own of course. She had stayed there many nights after Captain Hanabi wouldn't release her from her vice grip once she fell asleep....

Shin'ichi turned away again. He led the way down the street, in the safety of Seiretei. Though he was not Captain very long for the seventh division, he had all ready grown quite accustomed to it and set his responsbilities. Despite that he would be sharing his home with a lower rank, let alone someone from another division, it didn't hurt to feel human once in a while instead of pushing everything and everyone away. It didn't take long to find his house, promptly entering and holding it open for her. For a Captain, it was a relatively humble abode, cozy but well-furnished.

She followed him quietly through the streets and back to his place. Her gaze lifted however when they had arrived. It looked the same as Captain Hanabi's on the out side. She thanked him as he held the door for her and entered, looking around. The inside was different however from her Captain's quarters. But she wasn't expecting it to be the same since her Captain and Shin'ichi were two different people. But she always felt small by the size of these Captain's rooms, and even envied the Captain's for having a room to themselves sometimes. Being a seated officer she had to share a building with the other seats of the third division. At this point in time there were only two otehr seated members in her squad so it wasn't crowded, and they each had their own room so it was ok. But she much rather have her own area for quiet time. She didn't get that where she stayed.

Shin'ichi followed her in once Kya entered. He shut the door behind him quietly and nodded. "Go ahead and make yourself comfortable. I'm going to change." He told her and he disappeared off somewhere. When he returned, he was wearing simple grey civilian clothes. These too were a bit loose, like the Shinigami, because he was almost afraid that if he had everything too tight, a wrong moment would bust out his clothes. He had a pipe with him, hanging from his mouth as he now disappeared into the kitchen. Taking the pot, he filled it with water and set it for tea, and came back again with the pipe lit.

She watched as he walked off for a moment before looking around the room. 'I wonder if I'll be strong enough to make a Captain's status one day...', she thought to herself. She quickly shook that thought from her head, laughing on the inside because of it. She could never see herself as a Captain, especially because of her stuttering around new people. She stepped forward, slowly beginning to look around at the things in the room, inspecting them a little more closely as she became more comfortable with being there. She didn't have a change of clothes, but she would survive sleeping in her uniform for one night.

Shin'ichi took the pipe from his mouth and blew a ring into the air before looking back at Kya. "I'm sorry I don't have anything for you. As I think you might have noticed, anything I'd have would be... well, falling off you before you got it on." He laughed a bit. He put the pipe back in his mouth and sighed.

She quickly looked at him and smiled, shaking her head. "Oh no! I-I'm fine like this!", she stated quickly before looking back around one last time and then at him, "S-So...I guess...we should get to know each otehr then....?".

Shin'ichi shrugged a bit, and noddded. "That's all there is to do, right?" He walked over and sat down on one of the comfy mats by the table. "I put some tea on. Do you like tea?" He asked.

She slowly followed after him and took a seat on the other side of the table. "T-Tea? O-Oh yes..thank you", she replied. She could feel her nerves going up again as she began to once again play with the sleeves of her uniform. "U-Uhm...So...how's the Seventh division...?".

Shin'ichi nodded. When the tea was ready, he'd go to pour them some. Until now, they could rest and talk. "Ah, I keep them busy as ever." He smiled. "Though there has been slack with paperwork, which is always boring." He added and blew another ring of smoke, off to the side out of politeness for Kya.

He smiled at her. "So, Captain Hanabi keeps you busy, eh? Well, that's good. It keeps you out of trouble usually, but not tonight it would seem." He sighed and stroked his chin.

She sighed at the mention of her Captain. "S-she does. We don't have a Vice-Captain yet for our squad...so...whatever work Cpatain Hanabi does not do, I have to...", she trailed off as he mentioned it kept her out of trouble besides this night. "Ya..I-It probably would've been better if I had gone back to my room...just faced my Captain and take her out to drink...", she sighed once again, "Instead of all this...".

Shin'ichi shook his head and smiled. "I said not to beat yourself up over this; It couldn't be helped, and something like this is always bound to happen sometime." He pointed out. "Mind you, it could've been a lot worse." He added and drew from his pipe again.

She looked at him and nodded slightly. That was true. It definitely could've been a lot worse. Especially if she was there alone, like she had thought she would be. "But...I guess I'm lucky th-that you were there", she looked down at herself and then back at him, "I'm not the biggest of people...s-so someone can easily over power me with body strength...".

Shin'ichi nodded as he listened to Kya talk. "I suppose luck DID have something to do with it, but the fact remains: We're safe now." He nodded. "I'll escort you to your barracks first thing in the morning on my way to my own." He offered. He seemed to ignore that last comment, about brute strength. He certainly possessed enough of it to pretty much all that he wanted.

"O-Oh you don't have to do that...! I-I wouldn't want you going out of your way just to escort me...", she trailed off. For some reason she thought she had sounded rude. "N-Not that it isn't a generous offer! I-I mean...do-don't be offended, I-I just don't expect a Captain to go out of their way for me...", she trailed off once again, now wishing her big mouth would just shut up because she oculd only imagine how stupid she was sounding at the moment.

Shin'ichi laughed and shook his head. "It's no trouble at all, I promise." He explained and smiled. "I'm not offended, trust me. If you really feel that you wouldn't like me to walk you to work, just tell me. I won't lose any sleep." He teased. The tea kettle sounded, whistling loudly as he rose to go take it off. He brought it back with two cups and set them down, pouring for both of them.

She jumped slightly, just looking at the cup now as time cuaght up with her. "T-Thank you...". She picked up the warm cup, blowing on it slightly before placing it to her lips and taking a sip. Tea was always good.

Shin'ichi smiled and nodded. "You're welcome." He answered softly and sat down. He took his pipe out and set it aside, the sweet cherry-smelling aroma filling the air as he blew out a ring and picked up his cup. He blew on it lightly as well, taking a light sip. "Well, it all depends on how you're raised. I was raised with honour, and to protect those who needed it, and to be polite to all. My father followed that forgotten code... Bushido, I think." He murmured. "So he raised me, shaped me into what I am." He rambled on. He had never been this open about himself. He guessed it was the Sake loosening his lips.

She looked up at him and listened to him before smiling and looking down at her tea. "That sounds like a good way to be raised...I raised myself. Grew up in a bad part of Rukongai so I didn't have any family, and any family I did have were misfit kids like myself...But I taught myself that you can't have things given to you all the time, you have to earn it. I don't expect people to hand things to me on a silver platter, because in my life that's not how things are done...". For once she didn't stutter that entire sentence.

Shin'ichi smiled as Kya seemed to break away from her stuttering, her nervous disposition. He nodded as she talked, listening intently. "It was, though I was worked very hard. I had to do things perfectly, or my father was angry for days." He explained. "But it made me who I am, and I wouldn't change a bit." He sighed and took another sip to wet his lips. "You're apart of the Shinigami now, though. You might not always be handed things on a silver platter, but it will happen from time to time. We're obligated to do these kinds of things for eachother." He nodded.
